Q. My 13 year old daughter has very, very low self-esteem and I don't know how else to help her. She was being picked on a lot at school and last year we moved across town because of my husband's job so she was able to start fresh at a new school. Now that he new school year has started I find out that she's being picked on again. She lets people push her around and doesn't ever stand up for herself and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse when she starts high school next year. I can not imagine how difficult that would be for you as a parent and I applaud you for trying to help and understand her. This may be something she needs to work thru on her own. I would recommend giving her a job, or her getting a job. Something to brag about is always great! I had low self esteem issues and my job got my thru it. Also she should learn to make fun of herself, once you can laugh at your own short comings it doesn't matter that other people do and they will stop. Also if church kids are giving her a hard time you NEED to approach the pastor!!! That is very important, I work with teens and youth at our church and as leaders we need to know!!!
